In this video I'll unbox and give my first impressions of the Vosteed Raccoon EDC knife with OD Green Micarta handle, Crossbar Lock, deep carry pocket clip and Sandvik 14C28N blade. First of all I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging, extra parts (spare Omega Springs) and knife presentation - some of the best that I ever got to experience - kudos Vosteed for the thought and the execution! Right out of the box the knife feels like it has the perfect size and weight for EDC (I measured 3.11oz/88.1g), it is well made in terms of fit and finish and has great ergonomics (reminds me of the Ontario RAT 1). As could be seen in the video the centering on the Raccoon is pretty much perfect as well as the lockup, the action is drop shut and the sharpness out of the box is more than adequate. Inlayed, weight reduced liners, flat screws, micarta backspacer and a reversible deep carry clip with the hole cover complete the picture. Overall so far I like the Raccoon a lot and can't wait to lay my hands on the button lock version as well. I believe I won't be ordering any Benchmades any time soon because of this one.
